Local places for you to visit
Below is Conishead priory which is where the Manjushri Kadampa meditation centre is located in Ulverston.
They hold festivals in the spring and summer of each year people flock from all corners of the world to visit the festivals sometimes up to seven thousand people attend. Which is a very busy time for taxis in the area if you plan to attend the festival we recommend booking your taxi in advance.
They also have meditation weekends regular throughout the year and weekend retreats. It is the world centre for Kadampa Buddhism. Click here to go to the Manjushri website
The views from the Hoade Monument are great too you can see as far as the old man of Coniston, Inside is similar to a lighthouse with spiral stairways all the way up as a rule if you see the flag on the mast next to it the monument is open you can call our taxi number, and we will point you in the right direction ro drop you off at the nearest point.
We also have Swarthmoor Hall which is a historic Quaker location just over a mile out of town it’s a very old building and they do tours and workshops and teach people about the traditions, Click here to visit the Swarthmoor Halls website

More places to visit by taxi
Our taxis are well located to take you to many of the areas well know attractions.
We have a beach in Ulverston, but it’s quite a muddy pebbly beach, there are many better beaches around Barrow-in-Furness that we could advise to on or take you by taxi.
The best beaches are Roanhead and Walney beach. Roanhead has a sandy beach with ponds and sand dunes, Walney beach is a eleven mile long Island with sand dunes at one end a nature reserve at the other.
The middle of Walney beach is sand and pebbles it go’s out for miles, it’s a great place to take the kids on a nice day. And there is also a childrens outdoor adventure play area.
We also have Piel Island which is a tiny island with a castle ruin on it and around four houses and a pub people can camp here or visit by ferry it’s worth noting the ferry only runs in the summer from Roa Island Pier which also host the lifeboat station which my daughter seemed to love going in.

TAXIS TO local ATTRACTIONS
Just a few miles from Ulverston we have Hathertwaite motor museum which is home to all kinds of cars from vintage to racing cars they also have motorbikes oldfashioned bikes and a cafe.
A few hundred yards on is Hathertwaite steam railway and steam train station this is a handy place to know as you can ride on the train to link you to lakeside which is the very bottom of Lake Windermere and it’s also the start of the Lake district national park and world heritage centre.
If you go to Lakeside, you will see the Lakes aquarium right on the train station. This area is also a ferry pick up point for the Victorian steam ferry’s as soon as you get off the train you look to the side you will see Lake Windermere and ferry pick up points, so you would be right in the hub to travel by boat.
You can link to Windermere, Coniston, and Ambleside plus a few more locations from the ferry pick up points, you can also get timetables to see when the ferry or train can pick you back up, so you can plan your day out with ease or book a taxi upon return you can simply call us once you are back at Hatherthwaite or pre-arrange a time to be picked back up.
We advise this as the way to plan a day out to Coniston and Windermere as it’s more fun and cheaper than taxis both ways, But we do also go to both places by taxi.
You could use the ferrys to go and visit the Beatrix potter attraction or maybe the Brockhole lake district visitors centre, or simply to just take in the world famous views.
Feel free to contact us to book a journey or return by taxi to any of these locations via our contact form.
