Do I need a child seat in a taxi?

No taxis are exempt from having to use a child seat due to laws of unplanned journeys. You are ok to hold a baby in your arms too aslong as the seat belt is over you. 

 

Can taxis pick up minors?

Yes, we can pick up minors if it is essential to do so, we would take extra care to ensure that the child goes into the correct place like school etc. but we would prefer it if a adult travels with them. Though are drivers are fully D&B checked, trained and licensed to unsure safe transport.

Do taxis charge extra to carry wheelchairs?

No, we do not discriminate in anyway towards a disabled person we charge the normal fare for the taxi ride and the driver won’t mind helping in any way we can.

Where can a taxi legally stop?

A taxi is allowed to stop anywhere including red routes as long as it is safe to do so just long enough for the passenger to pay and then leave or to pick up.

Can a taxi refuse to pick a person up?

Yes, a driver can refuse a fare, This only happens in extreme cases like if somebody is very aggressive overly drunk or feel like they could be putting themselves in danger.

Do taxis take pets?

We take pets as long as they are in a carrier. We don’t take dogs anymore due to vehicles being damaged in the past. But a cat i na carried or anything like that is welcome.

 

Will a taxi take me in a medical emergency?

Yes, we will take you if it makes sense to do so, we have taken lots of passengers who have been having heart attacks, mild strokes or occasionally in labour. We try our best to do the job as long as it’s safe to do so.

Will you deliver my food or beer?

We don’t like to do this kind of work, so we would have to say no as a rule and we are unlicensed to deliver/distribute beer.

Which council regulates taxis in Ulverston?

We are licensed by South Lakeland District council which regulate all the south lakes area taxis and businesses.

 

Do taxis need special insurance?

Yes, there is a standard insurance level of public liability insurance that we have to adhere to, which is usually set at ten million pounds to cover our passengers in case of a accident.

Do we take credit cards?

We do not take credit cards we get the customer to use the card machines in town before the journey starts to avoid complications later.

Will you be charged more if your stuck in traffic?

We do not charge extra if we have to go around traffic if we quote a price that is all you pay we try to be as fair as possible at all times.

Do you charge extra on public holidays?

We charge our regular customers normal even on public/bank holidays. Though if it was Christmas or New year we would stick to double time.

Do we have a taxi app?

No, we don’t have a taxi app our prices are very closely monitored to ensure you always get a great deal by calling us direct, although we often run offers through out the year on our website and on certain popular directories. 

Will we help you with your shopping?

Yes will would be happy to assist you, our friendly drivers will help you with your bags to your front door and also load the car up no problem.

Can you get extra help?

If you have a family member that needs walking to the taxi and to where there appointment is, we are happy to help we will walk them by arm and look after them as if they are our own family. This is part of our daily job we are happy to assist.
